If you follow all post-operative instructions and take the required antibiotics, there is minimal discomfort. All patients are given pain medications, but many don't use them.

Inadequate bone tissue may necessitate a surgical bone grafting procedure before implantation. Over time, bone in the area of missing teeth will naturally shrink and a bone graft may be required to ensure stability for the implant.
